on my v220 cdi the fan is under the glove box. access is from underneath in the passenger footwell.
i changed my fan due to a vibration which came through the dash....turned out to be a piece of foam which seals the air ducts fouling the fan rotor.

removal of centre console ...i remember 2 screws in upper vent holes and maybe more underneath the squarish trim of the gear lever

My v230 p reg ...fans work then dont work particularly well as they must be sticking..I guess I will have to access them some how and lubricate the bearings, clean the contacts and check for any leafs or other bits and pieces..I once found a squirrel and nuts and part of a part made home in an air intake .
If you have to remove the console or something please let me know how to do it..
Good luck
