Hello Guys,

I have a v230 Petrol R1997 with 65k miles, one of the problem i have is a bad knocking noise at idle coming from the thermostat body(putting a screwdriver to ear to it), as soon as the revs are raised the noise stops, any ideas i was told by someone that it might be the damper underneath but not sure, whats inside the thermostat body(any mechanical parts?) anyone had this problem

Also Suspension problems looking at changing to coil springs and N/S/F central locking motor,

Im actually quite dissapointed in mercedes in such a low mileage car and let me tell you its been at mercs with mega money spent on suspension issue from 25k miles

Thanks

Hello,
Sounds like a belf tensioner and the damper has worn. very common to wear out. If you dont have a damper you will most likely find that it is supplied addionally with the new tensioner.
Failing that it could be the water pump bearings, investigate further with ur screw driver!!
