V280 Class Strange Noise - Please Help !!!

Hi Guys and Gals,
I have just put my V280 in for a service and also to diagnose a strange noise. Can anyone help, as the garage seem to be struggling. I will describe as best as possible............. The noise is definitely engine orientated, however I can only describe it as if a leaf is stuck in the front air blowers (wHICH IT ISN'T BY THE WAY!!) this noise comes and goes with acceleration and decceleration, but it is also intermittent, although it is tending to be there more often than not. Power does not seem to be affected. It is more annoying than anything, as with anything that you know should not be there. Can anyne help, Maybe you have had the same experience and had it diagnosed and remedied. Please help, it's driving me insane.

fluttering noises are normally down to gaskets. Most commonly the exhaust manifold being either slightly loose or the gasket having gone. As temperature affects it, it will appear intermittent. I would have thought they'd find that though as it's pretty obvious.

Apparently the car is only firing on 5 cylinders which is causing the noise. They are currently in the process of diagnosing as there is fuel getting through and good compression. Any suggestions?

had similar fluttering noise when pressing throttle, turned out to be cracked cylinder head blowing back through air box
