Had a problem with the CDL on my 1985 280 SL which was first diagnosed as a cracked valve linking some of the pipes. A friend replaced that but still no locking and worse, petrol flap/lid unlockable without. This friend took offside door trim & furniture off only to find the problem was just under the metal plate by outside handle. Two screws holding the lock were loose and when tightened allowed both manual and therefore vacuum locking. Just to warn anyone else having same problem!
