My Sprinter shudders when climbing most noticeably at speeds above 40 and in the higher gears. Not noticeable around the doors. Had a sticky caliper changed that but didn't fix it.
I should have maybe added that the shuddering stops on the flat or going downhill or when not accelerating. When just cruising it doesn't do it. Been doing this for a while but I feel it's getting worse.
It also feels that when I knock it down a gear to deliberately get the revs over 3500 it's not as bad.
That may just be in my head though.
My previous Sprinter had a dodgy flywheel. Was told at every service it was knackered but went for about 50,000 miles without any trouble. Then got worse very quickly and clutch got changed. During the time I knew it was dodgy it never gave any shuddering at all. Only way you could tell was to depress the clutch slightly and you could hear a sort of tapping type noise. Take your foot off and clutch and gone. This doesn't do that. been for a service and they never mentioned flywheel. Though they didn't know what was causing it.
Engine mounts can often be diagnosed whent he engine has dropped and is no longer centre of the fan housing, it may lean if one is worse.
The gearbox mount could allow for movement.
I would drop the prop shaft and see if the bearings are shot.
Look for clicky uj joints, but they often do anyway and aren't always an issue if they do, but you may find one much worse that the others.
Then you're down to diff and its bearings,
or wheel bearings. Wheel bearings shoud be easy to diagnose, just lift off the ground , rotate and listen and feel, gearbox in nuetral.
Like the Vito / Viano this can be a bitch to diagnose and often it's just trial and error. At least you don't have the auto or TC that could be causing it.
