Hello,, thoughts and suggestions on this one would be appreciated.. We have an 03 mercedes vaneo ambiente 1600 auto with cruise etc... The engine management light shows and alerted us to a problem, the fault code comes as P0120 Throttle Pedal Position Sensor/Switch A Circuit Malfunction,, we have replaced the throttle sender to no effect and we do not think the problem is in the wiring as we can drive the vehicle perfectly OK providing we do not depress the accelerator more than fifty percent. ( the wiring positive and negative to the switch is OK and there does not seem to be an open/closed circuit on pin 5 of the plug.) As the accelerator is depressed more than fifty percent the esp and bas switches off and the vehicle goes into limp mode until we switch off and re-start. This happens whether the vehicle is stationary or moving and makes not difference whether it is in neutral, park or drive or whether we have switched of the bas using the dash switch for doing so. The vehicle can be driven perfectly on the cruise control across the full rev range and at all speeds and the fault of switching off only comes with the use of the accelerator.. On-board voltages are fine, we have cleaned all the connectors we can find and we are stuck on this one... Mercedes main dealer have no idea and other independents show just the same code as us. 1) Does anyone think it may be an ecu fault and given that we understand the ecu on this is combined with the airflo manifold ? are there any other boxes of tricks that we may not have found wanting their connections checking ? Thank you

Hi,
I purchased a vaneo ambientee 1.6 auto, 2003, in January. I now have a similar problem to this. Did you resolve the problem and if so would you share the solution?

I am getting desperate, as the dealer cant seem to solve the problem.

Thanks, Ian

hello ian.

you say you have a similar problem? do you have the same fault code, have replaced the pedal sensor, and have the same symptoms (ie it drives ok below 50% throttle and then goes into limp home with esp etc displayed if you go beyond 50% throttle etc etc etc)? if your symptoms are not exactly the same i suggest you start another thread with every detail you can possibly think of relating to your problem - this is an old thread and i doubt that helicopterrob will reply, he has not logged on for over three years!

also, welcome to the mad house.
