vaneo 52 plate lay for six month blue smoke comes and goes ex police motor not a oil burner milage 104.000 put air filter in still the same found hose oil in it cleaned it out much better the oil in the engine black no metal in it and very grity cant find the sump bolt rattle under the right hand side of engine cant find the starter motor i put power steering oil in but did not stop the rattel its not big end i am 19 70 person ex car breaker this is like a rocket engine to me it cdi 1.7 diesel

Starter on top of the engine, photo on my web site, sump plug at the far end under where you would have your feet if sitting in the drivers seat! rattle, engine needs a full rebuild or throwing away, are you sure its not a heavy derv knock from a injector??

h ello again can you tell me if 1.7 cdi diesel vaneo if it has a chain timeing belt the rattel at side bottom can it be a tensoiner the noise is near the p ower steering pump. gear box oil separate from the engine not like mini i am in a time warp i should bought a morris 1000

Could be a idler pulley Jim, thats common on the A class!!
