Ive just bought an r reg e200 auto. Its been standing for about 10 months but still started up occasionally.
I drove it back from the end of the road where i bought it from, the autobox is smooth and changes gear fine. When we had it running befoe i bought it the idle was fine.
When i parked up and put it into either neutral or park the idle went up to about 2000 rpm.
I tried kicking it out but it just increased the idle to just under 4k.

A mate of mine who works at a mercedes and bmw specilists suggested something could be sticking seeing as its sat for a while and this was also my initial thought.

Anyone got any ideas what the problem could be?

Cheers

Jim

Could be the cable sticking in the sleeve, also look at the throttle levers they could be gummed up a good soaking with WD helps.
