Very High Rear Suspension

I have a 300TE 24v Estate and have just noticed after a short trip to wittering that the rear suspension is extremely high. Even with 3 kids in the back and a 3stone tent, there is no movement and the suspension seems very stiff. When cornering at speed the car seems to jump.

Normally the car sits very low, this is causing me concern, can anyone help?

Rear suspension going stiff usually indicates the self-levelling spheres have failed. Mine went recently, but the ride height was unaffected.

I would get it checked out at a knowledgable indie asap, as I said, the ride height on mine hasn't changed. Your height problem could be with the load sensor on the rear sway bar pumping up the rear struts too much, although that alone wouldn't make the suspension hard. If the spheres need changing, reckon about £400 - £500 at an indie; it's a messy and potentially difficult DIY.

Bleeding the system may help for a short time too. Until funds are available for a sphere change (£250 approx, parts and oils only)
