I use a village MOT station, been going there years. When I was in the other day for my daughters MOT I said my Viano was due soon and wanted to book a date. They looked up the reg and said as it was over 3000kg Revenue Weight (actually 3050kg) on the .Gov webpage they couldn't do it as it would be a class 7 commercial MOT.

But I wonder if they are right... did they make a mistake and assume it was a van not an M1 category? After all a Range Rover has a Revenue Weight of 3290kg and surely they are MOTd as a class 4?

2014 639 Viano- 651, 5sp Auto. 2009 S211- 646, 5sp Auto.
I've never had such an issue with 09 V6 Viano, this 2.1 Viano, both ex long, both M1 category.
Or 2 previous 2.1 Vito's, one being ex long, the long was N1.

Or they treating it as a larger minibus?

I'll go and see them again. Seems if my Viano at 3050kg was a pure commercial vehicle it would be a class 7. I think they looked at the weight and didn't notice it was an M1 not an N1.

Ok so a false alarm from the reception girl. When I went in I said I've got a Viano... you know that van shaped people carrier. She heard van and on went her commercial head and indeed were it a van N1 class over 3000kg it should be a class 7 test. Anyway took it round to them today and once I slid the door back to reveal the leather seats and carpets etc he said that's fine we can do that. So it's booked in. First MOT in my ownership... fingers crossed.

Class 7 is only commercial vehicles.
If it has seats class 4.

Likewise campers. Campers are class 4.
