Found this guy a while ago. He's hilarious with a pretty unique style, but clearly knows his stuff. How he gets away with driving some of his finds several hundred miles home I don't know. Must get a few tickets. The episode of him getting the Olds started and driving home was a bit of an eye opener. Covered gaping rust holes in the chassis with gaffer tape and lived to tell the tale. Brilliant to watch him. One of my favourites.

Johnathon W I think he's called, is another good one.
Yep I watch his stuff too - can resurrect anything, amazing . Another chap with utterly amazing skills is Coldwarmotors. The paint job he did on the 70's style van was beyond astonishing. Currently helping to restore a Rover, his metalwork skills are about the best you will ever come across. Does his own interiors and another guy who resurrects 50's cars. I wish I had 10% of those skills.

I knew a guy who drove an American fire truck home to Surrey from Liverpool docks... it was the version with rear steering... he was on his own so used his belt to fix the rear steering wheel...

I've picked up a couple of American cars from Liverpool docks. Probably one of the most nerve wracking car experiences I've had. Hopefully the system has changed since to make it a lot easier.

....

I've since watched a view of his videos ..... 'I don't know!' He's only 36! Must've had a big milk round! ;)

Not that I want my own YouTube channel, but I'm curious though as to how you make so much cash from it.

He will receive a percentage of the income YouTube earns from placing adverts on his channel. With the millions of views his channel gets, you can appreciate that is quite a lot of money, and some YouTubers can get quite wealthy.

Derek is doing quite well .... worth $2.6 million. Good on him

though with the mpg that some of the cars he drives home, he needs it. The Buick was doing 10mpg!!!!!!!!!! But 'gas' was only $2 a gallon in the video.

Very enjoyable to watch he certainly has a laid back can do style quite like how patient his sons are they’ll learn a lot not that it’ll help them with the computerised sets of wheels we have to deal with nowadays

I suppose the problem is (and I didn't know quite how much he made, and that means it's more liekly a problem) how much of it is for TV and how much is edited/how many failures are there? It got me looking for some 2k€ Merc SECs that haven't moved for 15 years to be towed to my place and then get them working but I'm doubtful they would just burst into life after some new fluids/battery and ignition leads and fixing some vacuum tubes even if I knew what I was doing...

You have to wonder what those characters who have tens of millions of views for each video, are earning.

I can't really get my head around some the wrecks he drives home. I forget now which car, but on one car he just clamped of the rear brakes due to a leak and then took the car out onto the public roads. Does he just wing it each time he takes a car out?

its fun, and like the good old days. I like the idea that its possible LAND OF THE FREE where in nature does it say we must conform to mad, ever restrictive and outrageous rules and regs?

After all those rules and regs where "only valid" when we had a functioning society. Regan and Thatcher finished that off, so gloves off? For example, If out and about in nature and a big elephant charges you... would you get out of the way? or let it hit you and phone a lawyer expecting 250 k and the elephant to get locked up for 5 years?

I get what he's doing isn't best practice... BUT I would rather someone was allowed to drive carefully on quiet roads with a less than idea vehicle... than we lock ourselves in a cells pretending covid is the reason... whilst more and more immoral and illegal activity by corporate filth deliberately enabled by criminal government's, allow idiots to destroy the world, as 95% of us are locked up

But in this litigious mad world and him allegedly making all that money its a huge risk... but then again it isn't....

he gets rich as a beneficial partner to the corporate filth helping keep the slaves amused whilst in their cells....

Yep - that's what I've been thinking. I suspect he probably has the equivalent of trade plates, but one or two things he has let slip suggests that he gets a lot of tickets from plod.
