VIN check - data

Hi,

I have asked a few places for the price of a dipped beam bulb, I gave them my registration number and they have quoted approx £10, which indicates non-xenon. I have now found out, after damage to the headlight, that I have xenon headlights.

I have used the VIN check and this is the information I have received back from 2 sites

Site 1 - ?????? datacard
600*- HEADLAMPS*-*CLEANING*EQUIPMENT
609*- Unknown
618*- Unknown
619*- XENON*LIGHT*UNIT*-*HEADLAMP*DISCONTINUED

Site 2 - Mercedes-Benz Club Russia | Mercedes-Benz / VIN
600 - headlamp wiper/washer (с 01.08.1971)
609 - Unknown code
618 - halogen lamp unit with high beam/low beam/fog light (r.h. traffic) (с 01.04.1970)
619 - halogen lamp unit with high beam/low beam fog light and headlamps and fog lamps or additional high beam, amber; asymmetrical headlamps for l.h. traffic, and rear turn signal lamps, orange, for Australia, Italy, Great Britain xenonheadlight omitted (с 01.06.1995)

One site seems to say I have xenons (not sure why discountinued) and the other looks as though I do not.



I would like to know where UK dealers would get their information from? Can this information be updated to reflect the actual spec of the car?

It is a nightmare working out what you have got

You need to give a proper Mercedes dealership parts dept your VIN number and they will automatically find it.

If you do that, I cannot see where the problem is - giving them your reg number is no good.
