Hi

Where can I get a UK merc VIN checked out? I have searched the web and onlyh seem to get US sites and so far my VIN number on those sites doesn't seem to make sense.

Dont forget that you need 17 figures that include the WDB or your prefix.

Thanks

Worked perfectly. It's a 500 SEC I am buying here. Just 38k miles and in beautiful nick for an 89 car. The VIN check just told me the originating dealer was in Cyprus, is that unusual? All the service docs show UK main dealers from new. Could the car have gone through Cyprus on the way to UK as part of some trade thing or something?

Generally cars that have been imported are due to customers not wanting to wait on a delivery list. If you want a car and there's a 6 month waiting list they can import from somewhere else, to shorten the waiting time.

Also people living overseas buy one to take back to the UK, when they come home.

Ok Dave, that makes sense. Especially since at the time these cars were among the most expensive to buy hence were probably not to be found pre-registered and hanging around UK dealerships on the off chance of some walk-in trade.
Television, that's also possible. Everything else on the VIN checks out, even the optional electric rear roller blinds which, I'm sure, are very useful. Can't wait to pick the car up Monday week.
