Hello all,

I've recently bought a Vito and am having a few problems. The glow plug light flashes for an instant, milliseconds if anything. The van won't start and i'm wondering if anyone out there knows what this might be down to?

Any suggestions welcome

Dan

Hi, you need to check the glow plugs, prob need changing or the glow plug operating unit is not powering them up, check the mail live to the timer realy sometimes snap off, i am taking it your van is a non cdi? as if it is a cdi then these engines dont need glow plugs for they are only fitted for emissions reason.

Took the van to the garage in the end and they replaced the starter motor which fixed the problem. We knew it wasn't working but didn't think the two problems would be linked. However now the van is back, 1st and 3rd gear are no longer working, we're told it's because we tried to bump start it one too many times, which was supprising as we only tried about 5 or 6 times. Anyway, now the gear box needs to be replaced. Does anyone know of anything to watch out for when doing this procedure on the Vito, plus, would a box from a CDI engine be suitable.

Thanks
Dan
