I have a purchased a 1997 Vito 113 for conversion to a camper. The issue I am having is that it will not start.
I have fitted a new battery and there is plenty of fuel.
If I spray easy start into the intake it runs.
Any ideas?
I only have the one key (see picture)
I cannot find an imobiliser so not sure what is going on.

Thanks

Hello and welcome

If it starts with easy start then it’s not an immobiliser issue… when you crank are you getting any fuel?

No fuel and I cannot hear the fuel pump buzzing.

I’d be getting the voltmeter out and start tracing wires.
You could also run a supply directly to the pump and see if that makes it run

No fuel and I cannot hear the fuel pump buzzing. I am also finding it difficult to find the fuel pump relay. The diagrams dont look anything like my Vito.

have you ever been able to start it or did you buy as non running, i cant be a hundred percent but i am sure that key you have is the spare key i thought the sprinters and vito of that era had a chipped key and the sensor ring is around the ignition barrel, the black part is fatter on the chipped key with a square chip in the end which i have known to fall out. i know some vans had chipped key and some didnt, once you get it running on easy start does it keep running, be careful using that stuff they can become addicted to it its like a drug to an engine

Thanks for the info. The van arrived to me with a dead battery so I have replaced that. The key you see is the only one that came with the van. If I kept spraying the easy start Im sure it would carry on runnung. I have looked for an immobiliser under the dash and can only see the ECU. Further ivestigations underway. I'm going to start by dropping the fuel tank and check the pump.
