I'm not having a good time with my local Swiss garage who have spent six months ignoring my 1998 Vito ABS warning light at every service , and have finally, after the vehicle has come out of warranty, diagnosed and replaced two ABS sensors and identified a malfunctioning Controller (all four signals received, one not showing speed)
As thread and MB users know the going rate on a new ABS controller is about £2k (more than the ABS option on the vehicle new), and finding a used match is like looking for wooden rocking horse droppings!
Surely Bosch did not design a brand new ABS pump and computer for every car manufacturer and every model - or did they Is it possible to identify an alternative to the controller/serial numbers that I have from a different car manufacturer/vehicle? Can I drive the Vito without the control unit mounted? If anybody can help, or identify an (affordable) supplier, please contribute.
