Ta Quick Silver - that explains it!

I've spoken to a few local merc dealerships/good parts places but no-one could let us know if the part they could supply had a fitting for this pump - in fact most thought I was mad!

I'm pretty confident I need the 120 amp version - can anyone give me the proper part number I need please?

I am wide awake now, and will post back shortly with the info that you need.
Its best I think if you ask any Bosch service center to re con your existing one

Hi I'm new to this forum. Unfortunetely my alternator has started whining like hell. My vito van recently went in for a fuel pump replacement. I was hoping this was the source of the whining. Not. The garage has informed me that the alternator requires changing at a cost of £300. Is this about right or is this job ok for a DIYer?
Thanks in advance of any info

Its not to bad a job to do, but £300 sobs sounds a bit steep, cost of an alternator is around £160 using a bosch replacement. If you have an a/c unit then you must make sure you 've got the right alternator as they are smaller, the standard one won't fit AS IT IS BIGGER IN DIAMETER and length. On the back of the alternator is your vacuum pump if its a diesel engine.

Hope this helps.

Please ignore what I said above I'm thinking of the starter motor with referenceto the size and position, the alternator is of course on the opposite end of the engine ref to the cost and DIY ABILITY is correct.

I'm sorry to drag up an old thread, but I'm about to undertake this job and I was wondering if there's any information still flying around regarding changing the alternator and belt? Ordinarily I'd just get cracking, but the guy who recently fixed my black death problems told me it was a nightmare of a job, so I'm hoping to minimise the pain :eek:D

My email should be in my profile if required.

Thanks in advance for any info.

John

I cannot use that Email as I cannot attach things.

You can pop it up here early one evening and then delete it within 4 hours
