about to start re-newing all the front suspension and braking bits on the van, got all the suspension bits, shocks, wishbones, bushes & bearings etc, just after some new brake calipers now, Merc Stealership is very expensive, anyone know where to buy good quality but cheaper calipers? tried doing a google search, but all that came up was for high performance and racing parts, i'm trying to keep the price down as much as possible, as it does work out quite expensive to do all of this in one go.

Why do you need new calipers, 186k mls is not a lot on your van and unless you are having problems with the originals I don't understand why you would want to change the calipers ?????????

I'm with C220GJS on this one. Why?

are you trying to cure a specific fault with the front end set-up or is it a case of placebo maintenance (i.e not really necessary but it makes you feel better. We've all done it at some time).

For brake parts try http://www.brakesint.co.uk/about.html
I have used them in the past and they always seemed to stock a selection of parts ranging from OEM to budget and are not dear.

The only reason I would change a functioning caliper was if it had worn enough to allow the pads excess movement and even then it would have to be pretty bad to convince me to part with the cash. I'm sure you have said in the past that you are equally tight ;)

i know 186K isn't a great deal, but it is a fair amount when doing stop/start multi-drop work, it is purely something i would like to do while i've got it in pieces, the rubber around the pistons have worn and need replacing, and the pistons are scored, i thought it'd be easier and quicker just to get new ones rather than get these refurbished, my main problem here is time, as i need to get this done over a weekend, so i'm back on the road for the monday morning, i've got a full diary and need to be back mobile asap.

Have you tried ECP for refurb'd ones?. Whose caliper is it ATE? or Girling or Brembo or .....
If you must have new calipers and I can sympatise with MB spares costs then check out AP Racing for some Hi-Perf replacements - same type but supposedly better quality.
