Vito cam chain change, how many miles

Hi all, my first post.

I've been to view a Vito this evening which I may buy. It has FSH and 140k on the clock. How long do they go for before the cam chain needs changing?

It should never need replacing if the oil has been changed at the correct service intervals and the oil level has been checked.

And if you do buy it keep an eye on the oil level as they tend to use it.

not always, mine has done 211,000 miles, and never uses a drop between changes, i change my oil at 10,000 mile intervals, not the 12,500 specified

VITO cam belt

I have just purchased an '05 Vito 109 tdi. Part of the sway to get it was (I was told) that it does NOT have a cam belt...it has a chain, which does not need replacing.

I pray i have not been duped by the salesrep!??
