When I remove the ignition key to my Vito CD112i the tripmeter/ milometer digital display stays on. Is this right, or should it switch off?

My van's sat on the driveway for the last couple of months and the battery's has got a parasitic drain. I'm wondering if its caused by the tripmeter/milometer staying on all the time?

Of course they should go out and they will most certainly drain the battery if the van is left stood for three days or more. Unfortunately I dont know why they are staying on. Maybe somone else can help there.;)

They should stay on for a short period, as when you open the door it lights up, speedo that is. So the logical thought is that it has a fault in the curtesy light circuit.

Interior light issues

Can anybody elaborate or point me in the direction of where to look for a fault with the interior light - similar to the above posting the tripmeter/milometer is staying on as well as the interior light (for up to five minutes after the car has been locked). In addition to this when driving the interior light will fade on and off for no reason - this is particularly distracting when driving at night. Any assistance would be appreciated - thanks

It would make sense that the 2 problems are related. Your interior light thinks the door is open when driving, and your dash display thinks your door is open when you've parked up.
I'd start with the obvious... Find the small electric operator for the interior light mechanism (usually located around the hinge area of the opened door). Make sure that when you press it in on each door in turn the light goes off after the delay period. If this puts the light/dash display off then you need to figure out why one of the doors isn't pressing the switch in properly. If this doesn't work then unscrew and remove the switches in turn and check the wiring behind. If you earth the wire the light should go on.

Makes a lot of sense, also check for a trapped wire, for this you would need to pull the door contact switch out.

Does the central locking pump in the back of the car have anything to do with the internal lighting circuit?
