vito gearbox

Hello all
Can anyone please help?
I have a x reg 2000cc petrol vito van with the gearbox gone.Are all the vito boxes the same around that year i.e diesel/petrol or are they different with ratio's etc

I am not sure about the Vito's but the Sprinters use one gearbox for both petrol and diesel variants. The differing rev range of the 2 engines is then compensated for with a differant final drive ratio. The easy way to be sure would be to phone a merc commercial dealership, the service desk staff are usually very helpful.

Alternatively look for your van here - http://www.detali.ru/cat/oem_mb0.asp?TP=3 and compare boxes for petrol and diesel. The first six digits of your chassis number identify your van.
