good evening. can anyone give advice on changing the high prssure pump on the front of my vito engine? its pouring diesel fuel out. is it just held on with the 3 torque bolts and then pulls off? cheers
easy job, remove the inlet and out-let on the n/s, remove the 14mm feed to the rail, 3 trox bolts holding the pump on, adjust new pump off set spline to the same as the old one, put it back together!
I am not sure which vito you have, if you put up the first 6 numbers of the chassis number it will help.
I think if it is a fairly old vito, then you may have to remove the big horse shoe engine mount on the top left of engine, jack up and take the weight of the engine, on the sump with a block of wood. Theres not much room there to do it. And it can be a big to get the engine mount back on.
I was wondering if anyone could help. Fuel has just started pouring out of the left hand side of the engine (as you look in from the front). At the weekend the thermostat housing was replaced and I thought it may have dislodged/cracked one of the fuel lines from what im guessing is the fuel filter (sits above the thermo with one line in and three coming from it). The fuel is spraying from beneath where the thermostat sits, but probably 5 inches back and out of view, and pours onto the belt drive.
If anybody has any ideas I would be extremely grateful.
My money is on the fuel pipes that run from front to back underneath the fuel pump, VERY close to the alternator belt, sometimes they fall down and rub through on the bely! Its quite hard to find, but I bet its that! You will need to remove the left top engine mount, and you should beable to remove them, and check. if not then its the pump but if its been played with they would have moved/removed them for easy access!
