vito timing chain tensioner

hi guys i recently posted a small problem with what appears to be my timing chain rattleing on my 1999 vito van.it done 100k i look after it with oil changes filters ect. iv been told by one of the members on here its more likly the tensioner that has gone ,can anybody confirm that if i replace the tensioner the chain will still be ok bear in mind its only been rattleing for two days,and last night it seem to have stopped. - any help or advice may help me get some sleep cheers guys [ sg1 ]
