Vito w639 2005 system lock

Helping out a friend.
Hes spent a lot on a vito w 639 2005 for work and

It wont start...

He was told it might be a security feature and that he ought to change the computer on it.

So he ordered one and it worked... The car started and run well and now its stopped again...

Does anyone here know about these things?

Hes sent me a pic of the unit he changed...

Is there anything he can try to get it to start?

The Vito needs to go on a diagnostic code reader to identify issues. And likely Mercedes own would be beneficial.

On some issues intelligent guessing 'might' be worth it but my feeling is that this one could be expensive with little chance of success.

Poor sod has spent most of his disposable income trying to sort it.

He has a mobile diagnostician popping by later to have a look.
