A few weeks ago the van died, checked the fault code and P0087 was the one listed. I've always been a bit suspect about the in tank fuel pump so replaced that and the fuel filter. Van started up no problem, ran for a couple of weeks and a few hundred miles then died again on Saturday. Just scanned it and same fault code. So looking for suggestions on where to go next. I've heard about the fuel rail pcv going faulty but can that be checked or is it just a replacement job. Would checking the spill back lines on the injectors identify if there is a fault. The only other thing I've carried out on the fuel system in the past was removing an injector due to black death but that was months ago. I did use a third party replacement spill back kit. Would air getting in the return line cause low pressure in the fuel rail?

Also have the following code 254100 fault code the fuel pressure sensor of the low pressure circuit has a short circuit to ground. Is it worth starting with the fuel rail pressure sensor?

Did you replace the injector or just replace the seal..?

Also noticed that while running through xentry it is showing as zero pressure under fscu when it should be 3.5-5bar. where does it take that reading from?

Thought I'd do an update to this since it's been a few weeks with no EML warning (although have sprung a minor diesel leak somewhere in the top of the engine!). Didn't realise that the fuel low pressure sensor connector was being held on by a cable tie as the locking catch has been broken off at some point. Re-secured that and all good. The fuel pump and sender are also working properly now so fingers crossed thats it for a while!.

Well done for sorting it.
Sorry I missed the above. Generally any reference to a short circuit should draw attention to the electriacal connectors.

Not a problem, took me a little while to find where the fuel low pressure sensor was, asked elsewhere and was told it don't have one. Had a look through wis and found it. Also had a similar short circuit on injector four so at least I knew where to look and I'd nudged the connector with all the fiddling! Just need to work out where the diesel weep is coming from. Just swapped the leak off pipework for a genuine one and spent some time cleaning out the gallery's in between the injectors to see if it's just residue that's left now.
