I have some odd neighbours

with covid stuff - I've been home nearly 2 years, so you witness the 15 million amazon deliveries every 6 seconds to the 8 houses in our courtyard, and get to see people's behaviours as you glance out the window

these two got a new car before either had a license - it sat on their drive brand new, for some 3 months without ever being driven once, then I suspect in the next 3 months they used it on 3 occasions. But of late is getting huge use, being driven for 20 mins once every two weeks, but over Christmas this 8 month old VW Golf I guess is being used at least twice a week and even vanished off their drive for a whole night !

I guess it hasn't reached its 1000mile service yet. Not trying to notice what they are doing (just happening, as I'm doing my own thing), today I see its just taken them 55 minutes to drive off after they have been sat in the car ? and as I watch I see the left rear number plate bulb is popped - thats fantastic build quality

I guess VW didn't make the bulb though

I have had two Golf's both of which I thought were really good. I would have another Golf if I had to :)

on the world becoming a bit better everyday,

in 5 roads within 1 mile of my home I just counted 9 broken street lights - and that matters... because I can't see where I'm going... in her car it has "the Stars in their eye's Ford heated dazzle defrost system", and we just got a new screen fitted.

Do you think it possible they have RHD and LHD iterations for the heating elements ? I was driving the other day mentioning I can't see where we are going, so she screams get out if you can't see you old git, and she took over - then she spent the next 2 miles home complaining multiple times she could see out the passenger side perfectly well, but not the drivers. And indeed its exactly how the car is now. From the passenger side you can see easily and not get dazzled, but you can see bugger all on the side that matters. Just been out and you can't see anything at all, at one point I wondered if the headlights were even on, cleaned the screen and the lights before going back - makes no difference at all ???

My SLC300 has reached only 10,000 miles and is out of warranty, it needed faults looked at, Blind Spot Assist not working and problem with intelligent LED headlight. Repair bill of almost £2000!
My C250 similiar age but slightly higher miles need a Nox sensor and also LED DRL was not working, repair bill of £1600, Mercedes not interested in any goodwill contribution. Does that sound like the build quality is any better?

Nope, kinda puts me off buying Mercedes ever again. The previous rusty Clk should have put me off forever.
