Hello to all. Could anyone help us out with this?
My brother has an S Class 500 (it's a post up-lift model with full screen Command) which has suddenly started showing the following symptoms for no apparent reason and which the local Mercedes dealer/repairer cannot identify because it just doesn't happen when it is in the workshop....
On approaching the car for the first time during the day the following things may happen, but sometimes don't!
1. Fob key won't deactivate central locking.
2. To gain entry I have to use the detachable metal key.
3. Car alarm goes off
4. Putting fob key in ignition has no effect other than a series of regular intermittent clicks.
5. Radio and satnav still works.
6. Car won't start.
7. After about 2 minutes the car starts as if nothing was ever wrong.
8. When taken to the Mercedes workshop no faults appear on the diagnostics.
This is an annoying intermittent fault, made very worrying by the possibility that it might happen when he's away from home and he might find that the fault has stopped being intermittent and become permanent and leaving him stranded God knows where and at any time of day or night.
Can anyone help?
Thanks, Russ.
