I sold my W reg C220 last year to a friend when I updated to a newer (again C220) model. I always had the car serviced at a local independent garage so I have no experience of doing an oil change myself. However I wish to help my friend carry out a DIY service on my previous car.

Is it possible to access the drain plug whilst the car is standing on level ground and where are the sump cover fasteners located ? Apologies for asking these simple questions but I thought my days of car servicing were well over !

4x 8mm bolts will drop the under tray down, and a 13mm spanner or socket will be needed for the drain plug. Should be able to do on the floor easy enough lieing on ya back and reaching under.

Make sure you replace the copper washer on the drain plug and undo the filter before you refit the drain plug as some oil will be stored in the filter housing.

The filter has a special tool, but a filter strap should suffice to get it off. again replace the seals at the same time.

Hope this helps

Thank you for the advice. I had forgotten about the copper washer.
