For a while my electric aerial has been sticking when raising and lowering, and has now given up the ghost, MB have sold me a new mast for £16, but on closer inspection the motor is full of rust and has blown. Just makes a strange whining noise when connected to a spare 12v battery...

The new mast that merc have sold me has a toothed nylon cable, but the old one is untoothed, so presumably a replacement of the old motor won't work with my new mast?

Anyone know where I can get a new motor that'll fit and what price I should be paying? (MB quoted me £180 - surely there's a cheaper alternative?)

Cheers,
Chris

Aerial motor

Cannot help you out specifically on the W107 but the motor failed in my W124, luckily German and Swedish had a new aerial and motor combined for around £35, doddle to fix; unplug the wires and maybe two screws, easy DIY fix, give them a try!
