Now that the engine is running properly can detect a bit of a klonk when going into gear (especially reverse) and when coming off the throttle.

Under heavy acceleration there is a slight wobble from the prop too.

Is this 'just' Mercedes? Had the same on our '93 E200 and the same klonk
on the current '98 C230Kompressor (but only slight, and noticable when comming off the accelerator).

Is this something that can be attempted as a DIY job?

Appreciate any feedback.

If the problem is the propshaft universal joints, then your best bet is to remove it and have the bearings replaced by a reputable reconditioning outfit. There are a few that specialise in MB. It can be a DIY job, but you'd need a press to remove the bearings. Check also that the splines are OK and that you do not have any loose bolts.

Also worth cecking are the prop-shaft centre bearing support , if it has one and the gearbox and engine mounts.

Thanks Arnie - the car is going into the workshop for some body repairs so will ask the lads to check what they can see / if anything loose.
