Oh dear..... Are you SURE you need a new fan, not just the resistor block? Have you tried oiling it?

Its about a day and a half of full on knuckle scratching to replace it.

Try Merc Man in southampton

Theres a white W114 280CE Coupe in the breakers next to the M25 at Iver in bucks/ berks if that helps? (same fan) (known as riverside breakers iirc - but its a get-it-out-yourself-job)

If you're struggling, then maybe this place is worth a go:

Have you tried the dealers? They can still obtain some older parts. The blower is 115 835 02 07 (around £240?) and the resistor pack is 115 821 19 51 (don't know how much this is, maybe unavailable?)

Thanks for that, I have got the fan out now. It was seized up due to being stood for 10 years. If I can get some new bushes for it I might be able to get away with it.

 Hi again, well it seems as if the heater fan motor in knackered so I need a replacement. As a new one is too expensive can anybody help me find a secondhand one? I have already tried Mercman but they don't have one. I am starting to get desparate as the cold weather is nearly here? Thanks

Hi there hutch7799,

I had exactlly the same problem, I managed to get a replacment fan from benz-frendz in north london (sorry, I forget the number). it's basically a breakers yard, so if he has one, it won't be brand new. Like mine, it will probably need a bit of TLC and cleaning before putting in. Where ever you get one from, ask them to test it on a battery first, just to make sure... getting those things in and out is a lot of work, did mine in december too brrrrr!

As an alternative, i know some people in the US have used industrial computer fans (12v) and have made a housing from fibre-glass or the old fan cover. It's another option to you:

You could always get then refurbished. BSL in Stevenage will be able to match up bearings. Any alternator/starter motor refurbisher will be able to redo the wingings. Any electrical wholesaler will be able to match brushes.
