Hello again,
still not sorted out my problem. From cold, car starts but revs fall away and engine stalls. Car keeps stalling almost until running temp is reached then runs/starts fine. Whole carb was swapped over yesterday and choke & mixtures set correctly etc. by garage but still stalls from cold. Can't be fuel and I've checked everything else(I think!)....so does anyone have any ideas?
Could it be a more serious problem involving valves (I also run on lpg & no difference)?
Please help!
Thanks

123 idling problem

My car had a similar problem if I blipped the throttle. I think you may have a problem with the cold start mechanism. Get round this by starting the car with one prod on the throttle then release, then let the engine heat up for a few minutes before moving off, without revving up.
Before next winter, find a decent Merc specialist in your area and let them do their magic.

Hello there
I've tried doing that but the revs don't hold on for long enough. The engine just stalls and I have to throttle down to keep the engine running until warmed up a bit.
If I try and pull away before the engine is warm...there is no power at all and I have to give it loads of throttle and practically flood the engine to get going - often resuling in stalling. Economy has therefore suffered big time! 15mpg now(was 20).
I'm wondering if there is a leak in a manifold somewhere? which closes when warmed up a bit?
The Merc specialist have tried most things and reckon the intake manifold pre-heater wouldn't cause this sort of problem if it isn't working. Is this true?
At least I know its not the Carb!
Any other ideas would be welcome.
Thanks
