Dear MBOers,
It's one thing after another.. I bought a lemon of a '84 W123 240TD but am in too deep to quit! (New shocks, brakes, welding... could have bought a beauty with what i've spent on her)
The engine has just died, and the mechanic suggests a new one (and gear box).
Does anybody have one? Or know someone that does? Also what should I expect to pay for one? Just received a quote from 24/7 Spares: £558 (engine + gear box, inc VAT and delivery)
Mechanic has said if I find one he will fit if for £400, is this reasonable?
Ideally I'm after a 240D to keep it original but i'd go for a 300D.
