I am looking for a uk fuel injection specialist who can take my car in to a) diagnose the fuel injection system problem and b) repair. Can anyone recommend a company with good experience and all the right equipment to check pressures, flows according to the original service books? Ideally in the Midlands region but will travel.

The problem
My car is a low mileage 1978 280, starts well, runs well, but after 5 mins of stationary heat soak will not hot start. I have checked mixture, compression, ignition, replaced fuel pump, all filters, accumulator, ignition ecu, plugs and leads.
Last remaining parts to change potentially expensive- the distribution block, warm up valve and all injectors. Therefore would like diagnosis first.

Will it run on easy-start while it exhibits the fault?

Might narrow it down to fuel or ignition

It needs a fuel pressure test .To see if it is holding pressure after switching engine off for a cirtain length of time And it could be electrical due to heat. Coil may be over heating.

The injectors should close after you stop the engine .But if they are old the pintle will not close due to the spring inside going weak .So as you switch off a good runing engine , and let it sit for 20 mins or more it wont start because the fuel that should be in the injector would have bleed out of the system . But eventualy the engine will start after the pumps have pressurised the system -reason for hot start .. Fuel will drain back to the fuel pump if the check valve is worn in the fuel pumps- or pump, or if accumulator diaphragm is split,.and last and least fuel filter blocked up . By the way some have a small filter in the fuel distributor that needs replacing .pic pump check valve looopppppppppppp.jpg 7c048eca-dabe-eda4-0083-85eef2076e79-after-replacement.jpg pic of filter
