The central locking on our 1982 230TE has finally given up the ghost. it was pretty sluggish initially (only 2 or so unlocking cycles when not running) and now won't operate at all. The only rubber slave cyliber I can see (petrol cap lock) looks in pretty good nick. I am trying to come up with a plan of attack for getting the system fixed: maybe it is the pump, or the reservoirs, or other slave cylinders. Does anyone have any ideas for how to approach this problem, what should be checked first, and how to check things?

Cheers

It was the passenger actuator that failed on my car - I believe this is usually the first to fail. You'll need to remove the door card to replace it.

Boot Lock Mech usually goes, Petrol Lock, then the next common is leaking connections or the cylinders in the doors.. Also check that the one way valve that supplies the whole system from the engine bay is ok...
