Hi,

Whenever it's been raining (it rains a lot here in the Netherlands!) and I open the boot of my 1984 300TD, water pours out of an opening about half way down on the left-hand side of the boot door. Sometimes it's up to about 300 ml. If I don't open the boot for a few days with heavy rain it'll also drip through the boot door lock and into the hidden tool tray underneath the boot floor.

Has anyone else experienced this? It's either leaking around the bottom of the boot window seal (which doesn't appear to be the case) or the rubber boot seal is blocked somehow and water overflows into the door when it rains. However, I've made sure the seal is clear.

Any ideas? The rear wiper motor isn't working but I don't want to get it fixed until I know it won't just be damaged by the water.

Thanks in advance,

Sam

The glass seal (rubber) can often be the problem. Either have it replaced or have it re sealed with mastic. The wiper seal where it passes through the glass may also have failed. As your motor has packed in, it could be because water has got passed this seal and entered the motor. By adding some white poster paint to some water and pouring it around the suspected leak point, then the tracks can be more easily seen. Dont use household emulsion for this or you will have problems washing it off.
