Hi folks,
I have an '85 200T (converted to a w201 2.5TD), my question relates to the suspension.. is it possible that the car did not come with self levelling originally? Was there such a model?
I ask as I don't see any trace of the system... no fluid tank.. and the only hardlines runnnig to the back seem to be from an ABS unit.

If it is the case that it does not have SLS, how do I go about fixing my sagging rear end (on the car, not me!)? Just change the springs + rubber upper mounts? How many dots should I be counting on good mounts?

Many thanks!
Steve

I would have thought that somebody stripped out the self levelling system and replaced it with the standard saloon set up. I would be suprised that they have gone to the extent of removing the pump, reservoir and self levelling reservoir. I can only suggest that you have broken or incorrectly sized springs.

Just to make sure. Does the car rise when you start and rev the engine? If so you do have self levelling and your levelling valve is allowing fluid to leak past from the suspension strutts.

Hi Tim,

No, no rising... I'll take some detailed pics of the setup tomorrow. BTW, I'm assuming I'll have to remove the rear seat + interior panels to get at the top of the shock?

Thanks

The pump for self-levelling runs off the engine so I guess it was removed when the engine was changed. AFAIK all W123 estates have SLS as standard.

Steve,
The easiest is to mount a pair of airshocks
