Ive got a '78 W123 200D here in Poland, which Ive been using scarecly (Ive got an '82 Audi coupe as my daily driver.) I recently did a long journey of a few hundred miles in the Barrel, as we call them over here, and noticed that she's only giving out about 25mpg. She's a bit smoky on start-up, although compression is good - is this a sign that she needs the injectors pulling and cleaning, or is there a simpler fix?

Check it rolls on a slope when you take the handbreak off. Should be getting 35 mph.

Oh, I did the brakes; they're not sticking, although there is a small squeak from the back (possible bearing?) I'll try that idea of running Liqui-Moly straight into the injectors from a bottle and see what gunk that chucks out, then I'll let you know.
