W123 thermostat opening temp.

At what temperature should the thermostat on my recently purchased W123 200T open?

At a guess somewhere between 82-87 deg depending on climate the car was destined for.

get a new one for a tenner, I assume you mean the car is recently purchased, not the thermostat....?

Mine misbehaved spectacularly after a 700 quid head gasket replacement, now sweet as a nut after me remembering to renew thermostat to make all the bits work as intended.

Thanks for the input. LNM - I'm on the other side of the River and although I'll do smaller jobs my self can you recommend anyone for servicing & parts?

It will be stamped on the old one. It is an off the self item so you should be able to take it out and match it up. The likes of GSF and Eurocarparts will advise you further.
