Further to my Post about the car getting soaked in last thunderstorm everything appears to have dried out but my front Passenger Electric Window is Still Stuck in the Down Position I Have removed the Front Console and swapped the Drivers Switch for the Passenger switch and this makes no difference. When the switch is pressed down i can hear a solenoid type click but in the Up position no sound . I have next put a voltmeter accross the two terminals and get 12V when switched down and nothing when switched up. Am I correct in thinking that window up or down is a reversal of voltage so +12 one side is up +12 on the other side is down ie polarity reversal equates to up or down movement. If This presumption is correct then the fault would lie with the relay and not the Motor or switch.
Anyone know where the relay is?? is it one per window ( surely not??) i have looked next to my Fusebox and there appear to be 3 relays in there .

Any help or info welcome is my thinking / diagnosis correct??????

If it is polarity reversal then i could run a temp 12V supply to make the window go up??? cos a bin liner taped over the window is not cool or in keeping with a Benz.

Thanks

The 12V i have checked with the voltmeter is on the terminals in the Door Trim where the two wires go to the Motor / regulator.

I have successfully wound the window back up by reversing the connections on the terminal block on the door . Obviously the window wont go down now but this has established that the fault is not in the regulator or the door but in either the wiring or the relay unit
Looking at previous posts suggest there can be wiring problems where it enters the door but if its two wires and i can work it in both directions then surely that means it must be a relay type problem ?????
