Sadly, this option is not fitted to the car I have just bought. Is it possible to retro fit the MB system to the car? Anyone done this or got a list of parts I'll need?

Wouldnt bother with the cruise control, I never really use mine, there again I never really use the CL. Wanted to take it for a spin over the bank holiday but its raining and I dont like getting my CL wet!!!

Defo want to fit it if it is possible, because we use the cruise a lot round here.

I looked at CL's as well, but they are still too pricey for me to afford one right now.

The coupe will be getting Waxoyl'd as soon as I can book it in....

It is easier to fit a non MB cruise, there are kits out there

Mercedes cruise controls in my opinion take some beating and are an ergonomic delight. You don’t have a separate on switch to fumble for, and the memory doesn’t drop out at stop streets.

Many retro fits have an on switch which after a Merc is a real PITA; some of them lose their memory setting and/or switch off when coming to a halt, and some use the brake servo “vacuum” to operate the throttle actuator. This can be a killer if after a long uphill climb someone pulls in front of you and your brake efficiency is reduced due to the “vacuum” being reduced by virtue of the throttle being held open for a long time. My advice for a retro fit is to go for an electric throttle device, unless you are really clued up on the capability of your braking servo system.

Conrad Anderson appears to enjoy a favourable reputation although I have never used them. Their freephone number 0800 279 0085 and www.conradanderson.co.uk

Good luck and let us know what you decide.

Many thanks for the reply, and I am in complete agreement there. I am wondering if it would be possible to rob the parts from a scrap car now.... I just need to make a list of the bits required. Keep those answers coming...

If you are not registered with MBclubUK you can view but not post. Go to page 8, (as at today’s time and date) of their electronic forum and look under 190.sq entry on cruise control. I know it is not your model but it might give you a bit of encouragement.

Excellent, many thanks for those tips. I have been registered on that forum for some time, but not posted much..... I guess I will be now! That is a very interesting article, thanks for the tip off!
