Hi all,

I have an 1993 E 220 which has done 156k. I wonder if someone could offer some advice as to what the following may be as its coming up for its MOT

1) At low speeds the suspension really creaks. I had the joints replaced a year ago and both suspension coils replaced as one was fractured.

2) The passenger electric window doesnt work it just makes an whirring electric sound, however if i lean against the glass i can "help" the window down. It sounds like it cant take the weight of the glass

3) Recently when putting the car in neutral, it revs around 2000, but this doesnt happen very often.

4) I need a new front bumper, any ideas how much i should pay for one

Any ideas what they could be?

Much appreciated

ati roll bar bushes or otehr rubber bushing on the suspension, the coil springs can creak a little if not properly seated.

Window regulator broken £35 off ebay delivered to your house.

Loom from the air flow meter to the OVP and ECU is braking down, shorting, if you manipulate the wiring from the air flow meter with the engine running you will see the engine cough and splutter a little.
Also the connections at the front of the engine on the temp sensor and cam advance with be breaking down.

4) I need a new front bumper, any ideas how much i should pay for one

I wouldnt worry about the bumper.

Hello and welcome to the forum;);)

The squeaking could be the antiroll bar rubbers where the bar is fixed to the chassis in rubber bushes,,either replace or spray with silicon.

You will have to take off the door card to check out the motor for the window

The high idle could be the throttle switch but it depends on the year of the car

There are cars being broken up all of the time with many parts on Ebay, even cars being broken up here on the forum

Spooky huh. Trouble is ive gone from a 1988 230TE to a 1993 220TE and cant believe what a load of sh!t it is.

Wiring loom breaking down and shorting destroying the OVP, on a mercedes !!!!!!!!!! Im looking to get rid of it and get a jap motor as a hack instead.
