W124 - 300 Coupe - Oil usage

I have a MB 300CE and last week, I drove it from Erding in Germany to Huddersfield in England and back again.

As it was getting close to the service time, I had it serviced before I left.

On the way back, after about 1800 km, the oil light was intermittently on and off so I put another 1/2 litre of oil in.

I asked the guy who serviced the car and he said that it was quite normal and it can use 1/2 litre per 1000km.

Is this correct :?:

Yes, quite correct. Especially on motorway journeys.

Hi

Mb allow ltr every 1500 miles on most of their engines.

If your worried have a set of valve seals fitted.

Your oil usage is in the normal range as posted above, but just wanted to suggest that oil might be leaking through the valve guides as M103 engines are known for valve guide wear.

No, not really.

Valve guides can be replaced without removing the head.
