Hi,

As per my previous thread on my 300TD exhaust..... can somebody please post a pic of the exhaust sytem so I can compare to what is underneath my car?

The garage have said there is a chance that there is a mounting bracket missing. They seem to remember that the mid section of the exhaust had a bracket that mounted to the gearbox (or close by). Now I think I saw some such thing when I was ordering the part from Mercedes but it wasn't included in what I got.

When I look at the exhaust pics on onlineautomotive.co.uk I can't see it.

It's the only thing I can think of. The previous exhaust split in the flexi pipes at exactly the same spot. Perhaps it was a replacement and was put on without this bracket and because I didn't order one the local garage never missed it.

Thanks.

Thanks for the reply. That first link doesn't look like it at all. It's a 1992 300TD (touring diesel) which I guess is the same as a 300D.

I did try to use that site but it's mostly in Russian and I couldn't navigate it.

thanks for the info guys. I guess I need to check if I have item 101. If order I guess I interpret that as ordering "137"?

This is a real PITA. I paid 285GBP+VAT for the pipe and now it's ruined a month later.

If that part was missing do you think it would cause enough stress to split one of the flexis?

Honestly, just get it all fabricated in stainless. It's cheaper in the end.

well I got under the car today and there was no bracket in the indicated position. There was a piece of rubber the wa hanging down loosely so i guess it snapped. I couldn't really reconcile the bracket in the picture with what I saw but I'm sure it's OK.

I will try to find a fabricator near me but I haven't heard of any.

Hi

Bracket should look similar to this. This is a 95/95 124 with the OM606 engine.

Hope it helps
