W124 300D Glow plug light on under heavy acceleration

The title pretty much explains the issue. The glow plug light on my 116000 mile 1992 300D illuminates under heavy acceleration and stays on for between 30secs and a minute. Is this indicative of a problem (the car seems to run fine) and has anyone else experienced this ? Any views/suggestions would be most welcome.

Not sure about W124 but on W210 if the glowplug light somes on it means one of the glowplugs is dodgy and needs replacing. Finding which one......trial and error, unless you can reach all of them easily in which case you might be able to preheat them but dont fire up the engine, you may be able to tell if one of them stays cool or does not heat. Not very reliable though. However I would go for replacing all of them because it's tedious doing them one at a time. I got 65k out of mine. I know they are not cheap, dont skimp on cheap ones either.
