Still can't get hold of this damper, gsf don't stock and after a visit to dealers they say my vehicle shouldn't have one of these. Is there another model that has same propshaft with this damper? as i can only think its been changed before. Dealers also puzzled at the fact my vehicle has the big steel under cover fitted as they say only some form south africa had these but i have a uk car? Doesn't appear to have any mods fitted for this either.

Hi

I think the dampers are matched to the prop shaft so you have to buy both. That what i was told when i enquired with the dealer when my 1988 190E needed one cause MOT failed (they thought it was the flexible coupling) so i just removed it and put her up again and she passed.

Just checked on EPC and they can be bought seperate for a 190E so i was beeing told porkies by the dealer all those years ago, unless things have changed.

Pm me your chassis number and i will have a look for you.

I think you are asking for the wrong part.

You say in a previous post that the rubber fell apart, so that sounds like the
FLEXIBLE JOINT DISC.

One is between the gearbox rear and the prop shaft and the other is between the propshaft and the differential.

For an early 300D the front looks like : 124 410 0615

and the rear looks like : 202 410 1315.

Part numbers often change and get rationalised so may not be the same numbers you have on your old part, but the obave seem to be the latest part.

You need to give your VIN to the parts person and ASK FOR THE CORRECT ITEM/s.

Yes this part was replaced, also called rubber doughnut? but just behind this joint is the steel ring which broke off from the rubber when the propshaft actually disconnected (luckily it happened when pulling over as i got some warning). It's also bolted on, like a steel triangle from which the rubber connects to outer ring. Dealers had my v5 and diagram for my vehicle, with part in view too, but when he clicked on the part it came up as 'invalid part' for my car. I dont have the part at hand to show number.
