I am the proud owner of my merc w124 300e 12v. I have owned the car for the past approx 10 years or more. Unfortunately it has come to the time where we both have to part as I no longer have the time to maintaine her. She was registered in 1991 and has full mercedes service history up until 120000 miles. i have performed the next three services and the milage is now shwing approx 140000. Mechanically everything is original, apart from the renual of parts to prevent the traditional overheating problems on these models. I replaced the radiator, thermostat and all hosings approx 15000 miles ago, the temp needle has nerver risen above 80'C since. She is finished in two tone silver and has been updated with clear repeaters, smoked rear lenses, avantgarde grill and 16" 5 hole alloys which came off and 2001 w320 cdi.
Unfortunately there is a problem with the car, the manifold gaskets on outlet pipes 3,4,6 have cracked, createing an air bleeding noise that sounds similar to an old transit van. i have had the car on the ramp and spent weeks pin-pionting this sound and can guaruntee that it is from the gaskets. Mechanically the car drives like a dream, same performance and fuel econamy.
I HAVE COME TO A PIONT WHERE I NO LONGER CAN AFFORD THE TIME TO MAINTAINE THIS SMALL FAULT.
THE CAR WILL BE SCRAPED IN 4 WEEKS.
