W124 300TE running erratic when warming up

Hi,
I have a 1986 300TE with 169k miles, which is beginning to run a bit erratic. She starts from cold just about fine and pulls away ok, however after a minute or so she will loose most power ? touch the throttle and nothing happens (no increase in revs) then power will come back on again. This will carry on for a while until it warms up a bit. This seems to be getting worse too... On Monday night lost a bit of power in the same way on the motorway then went back to normal in the same way when its cold!

I thought maybe something to do with the cold or the fuel pump, this was replaced by the previous owner less than two years ago though. Going on a very long trip in a couple of weeks so its giving me a bit of concern?

Possibly the fuel pump relay.

Thanks Spike! Will check the relay today. This is why first w124 and only had her a few weeks, brilliant solid and well engineered car, does like a drink or two... I think I am converted from my long line of BMWs

Hi Spike.

I changed the Fuel pump relay and then the OVP relay and neither fixed the problem. Today got the fuel injection system overhaulled by MSL Ltd - mercspares.com in Birmingham and all is running well now. Fingers crossed.
