My underbonnet pad has become detached and is crumbling to a horrible grey dust.... I need a repalcement, but wonder how the thing attaches. Is it glued or clipped? I have been quoted £50 from MB dealer, is it worth trying to get one second hand or is it likely to be just as bad condition. and therefore difficult to fit?

Regards,

Jim

Forgive me for asking a dumb question, but what is the underbonnet pad for?
My ex W123 230TE only had the remnants of one, and my 88 260E doesnt have one fitted either (presume it came unstuck and was removed).
Should I replace it?

The pad is there for noise absorbtion, I guess. It appears to be glued to the underside of the bonnet and mine has become detached and is falling apart. I am going to remove it this week and replace with one from a dealer, cost is about £50.

Best,

Jim
