just found this site.....hoping for help!
my 88 300te has 254k and runs sweet. lately my check engine light comes on briefly when i start the engine, but goes off shortly thereafter.
Is this an oxy sensor replacement solution?
any thoughts anyone?

i have a manual for my '89 300te.

you will have to explain more clearly which warning light is coming on because there is not a check engine light.

cheers

sebastian.

There is a 'Check Engine' light on US spec cars, even the early 124's and 126's.

now again correct me if i am wrong but if the light comes on at the start and goes off shortly afterwards 2 or 3 secs, and stays off. this is normal and is a just the fact that the operating system needs more time for the check to take place!

or is it coming on after you start and all lights have gone off and stays on for a short while, like 20sec or so??

check engine light 300te

thanks for your responses!!! sebastian/talbir/slinky...!!!

the check engine light does stay on for 15/20/25 seconds...

benz mechanic out east (massachusetts) says that flags him to check oxy sensor.
i'm going to attempt to replace it.....

thanks again!!!
